One Year at Beauty Revival Barn: What a Year of Injecting Taught Me

One year ago, I opened the doors to a little barn in Liberty Hill with a lot of hope, a nursing background, and honestly, not much else.

I'm Cici, RN, mom, and now officially a one-year business owner. I wanted to take a minute today to talk about what this year has actually looked like, because the highlight reel on Instagram never tells the whole story.

Why I Started This

I spent years in high-acuity nursing before I found my way into regenerative aesthetics, and somewhere along the way, I noticed a pattern: so many people were getting "another injector" instead of someone honest. The industry felt cold and transactional in a lot of places, full of overpromising and upselling.

I wanted the opposite. I wanted to build a place that was genuinely clinical and credible, but warm. Somewhere you're seen as a whole person, not a face to fix. That's the whole reason Beauty Revival Barn exists.

What Year One Actually Taught Me

If I'm honest, year one taught me a lot more about people than it did about injecting.

It taught me that most of you don't want to be sold something. You want someone to tell you the truth, even when the truth is "you don't need this." It taught me that trust builds slowly, one honest consult at a time, and that it's worth more than any single appointment.

It also taught me that I can't do this without genuinely knowing my clients. The women who've become regulars here aren't just names in a booking system to me. I know your kids' names, I know what's going on in your life, and I think that's exactly what makes this different from walking into a spa where you're just the next appointment on the schedule.

What Surprised Me

I didn't expect how much I'd learn from running a business on top of practicing as a nurse: the operations, the marketing, the constant juggling. And I definitely didn't expect to go back to school in the middle of it. I'm currently working toward my NP degree while running this practice full-time, because staying at the top of my field isn't optional to me. It's part of the promise I made when I opened these doors.

A Few Firsts, One Year Later

My first client ever, who trusted me before I had a single review online, and who I still see on my books today.

My first time saying no to a treatment because it wasn't the right fit, and realizing that was the right call, not a missed sale.

My first sponsorship of Liberty Hill High School athletics, because supporting this town is part of who I am.

My first year as both a full-time NP student and a full-time business owner, and somehow making it work most days.

Thank You

To every single one of you who trusted me this year, whether you were my very first client or you found me last month: thank you. You let me tell you the truth, you gave me grace when I was still figuring things out, and you referred your friends, which is the highest compliment a nurse injector can get.

What's Next

Year two is already shaping up to be a big one. We just launched SkinPen, the FDA-cleared, gold-standard microneedling device I've been wanting to bring to Liberty Hill. Our new membership program is live for the clients who show up for themselves month after month. And there's more coming this fall that I can't wait to share.

Here's to year one, and to everyone who made it what it was.
